An ounce of prevention

Just a reminder to everyone here at Magnolia Lakes:

Though we feel relatively safe here in our community, we are not immune to criminal activity. In recent weeks there have been burglaries to two cars in our neighborhood – a trend we would not like to see continue.

Please take precautions in and around your own home and property to keep yourself and your belongings safe, such as:

  • Keep house and vehicle doors and windows locked, and set alarms if you have them.
  • Lock up valuables when not in use. Keep shades or drapes closed if necessary to avoid “advertising” valuable items inside your home.
  • Make sure your garage door is not left open when you are not in the vicinity, and be sure to close it at night.
  • If you have a fence, make sure the gates are secure.
  • If you notice any suspicious activity, do not confront anyone, but document what you see and hear and alert the authorities if necessary. Report any vandalism, theft, or other criminal behavior immediately.
  • Install automatic timers on your outside porch, post and coach lights and/or motion detector lights to deter nighttime crime.

Let’s all make our neighborhood a safer place for everyone. More home safety tips can be found here: http://www.crimepreventiontips.org/home-safety/index.html

Please do not eat the local wildlife.

At the June meeting it came to our attention that some residents have allegedly been capturing and eating the local ducks and their eggs.

The board would like this to stop. Magnolia Lakes is an animal friendly community. This includes pets and the local wildlife. Feed these animals if you wish, but please don’t exploit them to feed yourself.

Homeowners are welcome to Sport Fish (catch and release) our common lakes. However, the lakes are stocked by the association to help keep the mosquitoes and other water-bred insects under control. Taking them for food is not permitted and subject to association fines.
